Armstrong Compass H 20-20 SS Design Envelope Variable Speed Circulator – Stainless Steel, Flanged
The Armstrong Compass H 20-20 SS is a Design Envelope variable speed wet rotor circulator with a stainless steel pump body with flanged connections, for open systems and potable water (NSF 372, lead free). It is designed to replace existing fixed-speed circulators, using popular flange-to-flange dimensions, and its ECM permanent magnet motor and eight operating modes – including the patented Auto mode – can cut operating cost and energy use by 50% or more compared with a fixed-speed circulator. Applications include residential heating and cooling, and potable water supply with the stainless steel models.

Control Modes
Lights on the display show the control mode selected.
- Auto – Armstrong's patented sensorless algorithm that adjusts pump performance to the system automatically (factory setting).
- Pressure curves PC1 to PC4 – sensorless proportional and constant pressure modes.
- Fixed speeds I, II and III – direct replacement for 3-speed circulators.
- 0–10 VDC input – external speed control from a building automation system or boiler control; the pump starts from its minimum curve.

Liquid temperature vs. ambient temperature
To avoid condensation in the control box and stator, the liquid temperature must always be higher than the ambient temperature.
